The Farm

In the soul of Brazil coffee belt, Fazenda AmaroDias has ever since its begining full dedication to quality, not volume. Quality and attention to the details, care for nature and with our long standing team, everyday.

A singular farm

The farm is located in the South of Minas Gerais, soul of Brazilian´s coffee belt, an area of sub-tropical weather, cwb, commonly described as subtropical of altitude.

During the last years, the normal temperatures can vary from 16 to 26 Celsius but, during the winter time, it can easily go down to 5-10 Celsius, with some frosts in the lower parts of the farm during the month of July.  The biodiversity is increasing year on year, with more than 113 different species of trees catalogued in the farm, some characteristics of the Mata Atlantica forest, others from the Cerrado region. Walking in the farm, we easily see species ranging from the beautiful Ipes yellow, white, purple (Tabebuia sp) to Pau Ferro Caesalpinia ferrea), Pata de Vaca (Bauhinia forficata), Sibipiruna (Caesalpinia Pluviosa), Canela Amarela (Ocotea corymbosa) and all the way down to the tree which originated the name of our country, Pau Brasil Ornamental (Caesalpinia tinctoria).

In parallel with enhancing the biodiversity, the farm is rich in healthy water resources although we have clearly concluded that water is not an infinite resource. The natural water springs are unique and have been kept totally protected and surrounded by its native forests. In addition, four new water reservoirs with over 100M water capacity were made in order to keep water as much as possible in the farm environment, helping birds, wild animals and the soil to be as strong and balanced as possible. Early in our sustainability journey, we have also embraced certification processes to annually come, visit and audit our farming practices. It is a way for us to integrate further in the coffee value chain.

Serving Only the Best

We have carefully selected the coffee varieties planted in the farm by first looking at its flavor and cupping characteristics, second by its pest and disease resistance (mainly coffee leaf rust) and last but not least, its longevity, which is not only dependent of the farming management practises but also its genetics.
